Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer
Product Development Engineer -
Our client is a manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrasturcture projects.
Due to exapnsion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer. 
As a Lead Product Engineer you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.
  • Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.
  • Carry out risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, and verification testing.
  • Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.
  • Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.
  • Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities.
Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience 
  • Previous experience in Development  Lead Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).
  • Experience with project planning tools and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Able to manage projects from inception through to delivery. 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential.
